The Story Behind

Venus Trine Mars

Hi, I'm Rebecca, the founder and the jeweller behind independent Australian jewellery brand Venus Trine Mars. My workshop is based in Sydney.

As a child, I grew up surrounded by flowers, watching my mum arrange them in the Japanese art of Ikebana in our home in suburban Sydney. So my journey to starting my own creative endeavours was passed on and meant to be. As a teen, I dreamt of becoming a fashion designer - saving up my pocket money to buy Vogue magazine from the local newsagent. I studied art and had a particular love of photography but my journey to becoming a jeweller took another decade.

In 2019. On a train trip across the European Alps, I stopped by a crystal shop in the Swiss mountain town of Wengen. There I discovered rose quartz, tourmaline and moonstone and fell in love with gorgeous gemstones. I was so inspired with wanting to work with these natural stones that upon returning home I learnt more about crystals and began training first as a silversmith and then as a jewellery wax sculptor. I found my calling and love creating stunning jewellery for women who appreciate the artistic value behind every single piece.

Venus Trine Mars is for creative women who wear jewellery with meaning and beauty. Women who value conscious consumerism and truly ethically crafted jewellery.

Exceptional Craftsmanship

The journey of every piece of jewellery starts with being meticulously hand sculpted in wax. This step is the heart of our process, allowing us to infuse every design with intention, detail and personality. Once perfected, the wax model is transformed into metal through the lost wax casting process - an alchemy of fire and precision that brings our vision to life. Each item that comes out of the kiln is custom made and will retain the beautiful and organic textures from this traditional jewellery making technique.

We work in limited small batches, which makes the business sustainable but also means that every item receives the care and attention it deserves. This approach guarantees exceptional quality but also makes every piece truly special. In a world of mass production, this art form is now being preserved mostly by independent jewellery artists as most large jewellery brands have moved on to factory production methods.
